The history of Seitz Brothers Termite & Pest Control in Tamaqua, PA, began with Edward and Kathryn (Kitty) Seitz. They married in 1973 and moved in 1975 from Philadelphia, PA north to start their family in a quiet low key town of Mahanoy City, PA. Since then, Schuylkill County has been the hub of their operations.
This is where people would stop to say hello and where the newspaper money was left on the front steps for the paper delivery to pick up. They started Seitz Brothers Exterminating Company, in July 1975 in this little town of Mahanoy City. Edward had some experience in pest control and saw the opportunity to step into the industry. Edward would drive the school bus in town and service customers in between the morning and afternoon school pick ups.
The name Seitz Brothers had no reason other then Edward has two brothers who were never involved in the exterminating business. So, then why Seitz Brothers? In 1976 and 1978 the Seitz’s were blessed with two sons Jason and Brian. How coincidental (or as they would say, fate) they had two boys, brothers.
In 1976 Seitz Brothers Exterminating moved to Locust Valley in Barnesville, PA were they had the office in their home until the children went off to school. In the 1980’s a pest control office was opened on Route 54 in Barnesville, PA in the old Marshall’s Country Store location. By this time Edward was very busy doing pest control that he was late picking up the children from school. So, it was during this time that they had to make a choice of driving the school bus or full time pest control. Edward and Kathryn decided to make Seitz Brothers Termite and Pest Control their full time job. The business flourished throughout the years bringing employment to the area. For Edward, Kathryn and their boys, Schuylkill County was there home.
They had offered the opportunity for their children to step into the company after high school with both Jason and Brian accepting that offer. Jason and Brian were full with ideas and zest opened an office in the Lehigh Valley at Trexlertown, PA.
Kylie Seitz (Brian’s wife) runs the Trexlertown office in the Lehigh Valley. They provide pest control in areas like Bethlehem, Allentown and Easton, PA. In 2004, they opened another pest control office in Tannersville, PA, the Poconos. They provide pest control services in areas like Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Stroudsburg, PA. Brian Seitz has since bought out his brother Jason. Edward and Kathryn have since retired from pest control.
Today, Seitz Brothers Termite & Pest Control corporate office is located on Route 309 in Tamaqua, PA
in Schuylkill County. They provide pest control in areas like Pottsville, Hazleton, Reading, Lancaster and other Central PA locations. It is managed by Lorraine Schock who has been with the company since 1993.
After starting the company with just two people, Seitz Brothers Termite and Pest Control staff has grown to over fifty employees serving the counties of Monroe, Pike, Berks, Bucks, Luzerne, Carbon, Centre, Clinton, Columbia, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Lycoming, Montgomery, Northampton, Schuylkill, Snyder, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming, recently extending into western New Jersey
and parts of New York.
